StoryaWrite by Neuraltree Private Limited is a Mac app for writing long-form fiction. These terms set out the agreement between you and Neuraltree Private Limited ("we", "us") when you download and use it. Plain language, no traps.

Accepting these terms

By downloading, installing, or using StoryaWrite you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install the app. If you are using StoryaWrite on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have the authority to accept these terms for it.

Your licence to use the app

Neuraltree Private Limited grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use StoryaWrite on Macs you own or control, for the purpose of writing your own work. The app is licensed, not sold; we retain ownership of the software itself and its design.

Your work is yours

Everything you write in StoryaWrite belongs to you. We claim no ownership of, and no licence to, your manuscripts or any other content you create. As described in our privacy notes, your novel is stored in a SQLite file on your own machine — we never receive a copy and could not access your work even if we wanted to.

What you may not do

You agree not to:

• resell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the app or charge others for access to it;
• reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except where that restriction is prohibited by law;
• remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices;
• use the app to break the law or to infringe anyone else's rights.

Updates and availability

StoryaWrite is early-access software under active development. New versions are announced through the optional email list on the homepage and installed manually by downloading a fresh build. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app or these terms at any time; substantive changes to these terms will be reflected in the dateline above.

No warranty

StoryaWrite is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of data loss. Keep your own backups of your work.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Neuraltree Private Limited will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) StoryaWrite. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, if any.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Neuraltree Private Limited is incorporated, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
